Have a lovely day, everyone!

8.30.2011

New

Dear fellow blog readers,

I have let you all down, I'm afraid.  I lost my desire to blog about my life and the things in it and what inspires me.  I got lazy.  I was uninspired.
But you know what, people are uninspired every single day, and those people don't get down on themselves.
So, why did I stop inspiring and building inspiration?  I really couldn't tell ya.
But, my dears, I have decided to take as much control as I possibly can on this little life of mine and share it with the world.  I realize that there are 7,000,000,000 in this world and, like 6,999,999,984 don't know I exist, but to the other 16 of you kind, kind souls, I'd like to fill you in.
I'm going to start blogging again.  Regularly.  Normally. Routinely, but not on a schedule.
I'm going to post photos, quotes, things I find interesting, outfit posts, updates in my life, and things that are lovely.  Things that enhance my happiness and that will hopefully help in the aiding of enhancing your happiness.

"What got into you, Rachel?" you may ask.
Well, ya know, I just missed sharing myself outside of my mom and dad and boyfriend and best friend.
I miss keeping an "online diary" of sorts.
I am cordially inviting you to join with me on this uncertain, thrilling, awkward, sometimes hilarious life of mine.  You may decline politely if you so choose, though I would welcome your RSVP with outstretched arms.

I thought a new way to get focused would be to reorganize and revamp my little piece of the blogosphere with a new title and url.  You can now find me at drinkteabelovely (dot) blogspot (dot) com.

I also have made a list of goals for the following school year:
- Get a 4.0.
- Enjoy my classes, even if they’re hard to enjoy.
- Make new friends.
- Paint more.
- Photograph more.
- Write for fun more.
- Internet less.
- Get coffee with Ethan before classes and have lunch with him.
- Longboard around campus—once I get the funds/equipment to make my board better to ride.
- Learn how to develop in the darkroom/use film more.
- Have people over for dinner.
- Exercise regularly.
- I’m thinking about going vegetarian again and actually doing a decent job at it.
- Let my “yes” be yes and my “no” be no.
- Start an improv troupe on campus.
- See what the jazz lab is all about and maybe get involved.
- Wear red lipstick.  Just because.
- Speak up in class, without sounding like a know-it-all.
- Try out for the Quidditch team.
- Get a job that I enjoy.
- Shop at Whole Foods.
- Go to class even when I’m really tired.
- Read the books assigned.
- Expand my vocabulary.
- Get plenty of sleep.
- Visit TU.
- Be happy.

As you can see, I have already accomplished a few of them.  And some that are already crossed out can and will be an ongoing process.  "Being happy" shouldn't stop because it's "crossed" off the list.

Moving on...
As some of you may (but probably don't) know,
I moved from Tulsa to Edmond.  I am no longer going to TU (even though I love love loved it).  I am now a proud (and I really am) UCO Broncho.  University of Central Oklahoma, if you were wondering.
I am in a Student Council of sorts here--Transfer Leadership Council, or TLC.  So far, it has provided me with a "home" of sorts on campus.  The people in there with me are great and there are some really funny people.  We all have the desire to do good.  And we all will.

I'm a junior.  WOO!  And I'm taking 15 hours this semester:
World Literature II.
Shakespeare.
Literary Criticism.
Creative Writing.
Leadership for Transfers (where our "books" are iPads...I named mine "Neville.)

I am really enjoying all of my classes, save World Lit II.
My professors, while they're all a little crazy, are brilliant.  Seriously, so so so brilliant.  Especially my LitCrit Professor, Dr. Springer.  You can tell that he has a deep passion for learning and for teaching.  I feel almost honored to be in a classroom with such a magnificent human.
My Creative Writing Professor, Dr. Givan, is really loud and never really finishes an entire thought, but he has so much knowledge and insight.  He's lived/taught/traveled everywhere and he has a sense of self, to speak lightly.  He's robust.  Take that how you may.
My Shakespeare professor, Professor Mayfield, is a frail little woman who fancies herself funny.  And she is.  But in her own little way.  She's also a tad bit space-cadetish, but she is SO enthusiastic about Shakespeare and all British Literature, from what I've seen.  She's a sweetheart.
My World Lit II class is online, so I haven't even seen my professor.
And my Leadership class is more or less of a pep talk every tuesday.  But, hey, when they give you iPads, you can't complain.

Apart from class, I spend my time cooking, taking pictures, spending my time with my new friends, old friends, and my lovely boyfriend.  Also, keeping my room clean.  It's a struggle.
I was hired at a wonderful little restaurant, Coolgreens.  It's a "green" and vegetarian/vegan friendly salad/wrap/flatbread pizza place which I adore.  I haven't officially started work yet, so I'll report back in a few weeks to tell you all if I still "adore" it. ;)

Here, just for the sake of you all having something pretty to look at, I'll post some recent pictures from a shoot I did on Saturday.

Ahhhhh!

I have a pseudo job interview in an hour and a half.  And I'm all hyped up on caffeine.

Other than that, I'm a happy nearly 20-year-old.
